EMF is actual development Framework that unifies Java(TM), XML, and UML-enabling developers to rapidly construct robust IDE applications based on surprisingly simple models.
Our team applies oneself to IDE application software for a long-term development. The Eclipse Platform is a framework for building IDEs. It's been described as "an IDE for anything, and nothing in particular", which is pretty much the way you could think of any framework. It simply defines the basic structure of an IDE. GEF (Graphical Editing Framework) also provides rather support for building a robust IDE.Specific tools extend the framework and are plugged into it to define a particular IDE collectively.
